Branding is one of the most important aspects of building your business. We came up with this handy list of dos and don’ts of branding to get you started.

Branding is one of the most important aspects of building your business, especially in the digital age we live in. Branding gives your business an identity, makes you memorable, builds rapport between consumer and business, and lets potential customers know who you are and what you stand for. It can be difficult to know where to start, but we came up with this handy list of dos and don’ts of branding to get you started:

  • DO: Identify your potential customers. Who do you want to attract to your business? Who are the people who need your product? How much money do they make and where do they live? All of these are just a few of the questions you need to answer to target your ideal customers.
    DON’T: Rush the branding process. Figuring out who you are accurately can take time. You will need to figure out the tone of voice you’d like to use, design variations of logos, decide on effective color palettes, differentiate yourself, and more. All of this will be a bit of a process, so don’t be discouraged. It will be worth it in the long run!
    DO: Be consistent. Inconsistent brand imagery can be confusing and come off as unprofessional. If you decide a sleek, neutral look is what you want and then, the next day, post something colorful and whimsical, it will turn off potential customers. Consistency in what you post and how you post it will build confidence in your brand and maintain expectations.
    DON’T: Only focus on immediate results or the short-term. We understand the desire to want to be finished RIGHT NOW with your imagery, but that is simply not realistic. Your branding can carry you throughout future campaigns, offers, and more. Precisely creating a brand will leave no questions.
